The Italian National Statistics Center /ISTAT/ declared that the value of Italian imports from Syria during the first nine months of last year reached euro 306.1 millions, an increase by 47.7%.

The center indicated that Italian exports to Syria during the same period reached euro 473.7 millions, recording an increase by 41.3 % compared to the same period in 2008.

The center added that the trade exchange volume between the two countries during the same period witnessed a 2 percent increase in cars and vehicles exports, 7.9 increase in mineral products, 62 % increase in food, 24.3 % increase in clothes and 67 % increase in furniture.

A 31 % decrease in chemical products was also recorded, whereas electrical devices decreased by 1.1 %.
