International Union for
Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
Regional Office's Director
Odeh Jayousi showed
readiness to support a
project of establishing a
network of ecological
gardens in
Syria.
Efforts for preserving
natural resources and
supporting biodiversity and
wildlife in Syria were the
main points of discussion
between Minister of State
for Environmental Affairs
Kaokab al-Sabah Daya and
Jayousi during their meeting
on Tuesday.
Daya said the ministry
is interested in cooperation
with the IUNC especially
with regard to establishing
a network of ecological
gardens in
Syria.
She added that the
ministry is in the process
of preparing a report on the
status of environment in
Syria to help tackle
problems, expressing
readiness for supporting the
capabilities and expertise
and developing the cadre
working in this field.
Jayousi, in turn, made a
review of the efforts of the
IUCN on the international
level, most notably those
put by the IUCN regional
offices for North Africa and
West Asia through setting up
strategies and supporting
the various environmental
activities.
