SANA)-Preliminary
results of the experiments carried out by the project of
studying and collecting wild plants in the Syrian Desert
have shown that there are 45 wild plant species out of 135
that could be used in the medical field.
These results were reached after analyzing and testing
various plants in addition to the information provided by
the locals and those who work in the field of traditional
medicine, Development Projects Liaison Engineer in Homs
governorate Reem Baalabaki said on Wednesday.
The amount of wild plants that have been collected up till
now indicates that the Syrian Desert is rich in natural
plants and it is expected that the number of the collected
samples would reach 400 samples by the end of 18-month
project, she pointed out.
The project is being carried out by Homs Governorate in
cooperation with the General Commission for Remote Sensing
and Desert Protection Directorate.
